Hopes on the Horizon to End Child Marriage,Teenage Pregnancy and Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting
Rutgers Indonesia published a report on five years Yes I Do: Lesson learned from the field.
To help support the Indonesian Government’s Program to End Child Marriage, Rutgers WPF Indonesia, together with the alliance, implemented the Yes I Do Program, applying a comprehensive gender transformative approach to prevent and to eliminate child marriage, teenage pregnancy and female genital mutilation/cutting in Sukabumi (West Java), Rembang (Central Java) and West Lombok (West Nusa Tenggara) for five years from 2016-2020.
Through the program, Rutgers WPF Indonesia has greatly contributed to the massiveness of campaigns and movements on child marriage, teenage pregnancy and female genital mutilation/cutting prevention at all levels; international, national, regional and even at village levels.
As a key result, adolescent and young people felt empowered and well-informed as well as fully engaged in activities that enhanced their life skills.
The Yes I Do program has successfully embraced the entire key stakeholders to join hands to reject any social, cultural and traditional norms that accept these ill-fated practices.
