GUSO Magazine: 5 years of youth-powered sexual and reproductive health and rights

GET UP, SPEAK OUT! Celebrating five years of youth-powered sexual and reproductive health and rights

Get Up, Speak Out for Youth Rights! is an international youth SRHR programme funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs between 2016-2020 in seven countries in Asia and Africa. We empower young people, especially girls and young women, to realise their SRHR and create positive mindsets towards young people’s sexuality in the places where they live.

We do this through the provision of SRHR information and education, increasing uptake of quality and youth-friendly SRH services and creating an enabling and supportive environment. This GUSO magazine celebrates our highlights, key outcomes and learnings, and the challenges we have overcome in the past 5 years. Above all we celebrate our sustainable and inclusive country Alliances that are ready to continue empowering young people for many years to come.

This magazine is also a symbol of our commitment, and of all stakeholders, to keep striving for a world in which young people are empowered and fulfi l their SRHR. Young people are the driving force in the GUSO programme. Their structural engagement at all levels (40% on average in our country Alliances) ensures the relevance of the programme and builds their confi dence and skills as SRHR advocates and leaders. In 5 years we have supported 1,150 collaborations among and with young people, putting young people at the forefront of decisions that affect their lives.
