Parents’ Meeting Facilitation Manual

Tags: CEFM, CSE, SRHR

This Parents’ Meeting Facilitation Manual focuses on skills enabling parents to communicate with their children about reproductive health, relationships, and marriage.

The manual is based upon the experiences that young, local trainers had facilitating SRHR-sessions for illiterate parents in their communities. From their training experiences we developed sessions stimulating parents to discuss alternatives for child marriages; what could they and their communities do to give their daughters a healthy, more sustainable future?

Several pilot sessions with parents and grandparents of different generations were held, in various upazila’s (administrative regions) of Dhaka.

The sessions and guidelines in this manual are pragmatic, ready to use for any facilitator who wants to discuss alternatives for child marriages with (illiterate) parents in a positive, respectful and participatory manner.

The manual is the result of a unique cooperation between Bangladesh SRHR-partners and Rutgers.
