Putting gender transformative theory into practice – module 1
Putting gender transformative theory into practice – module 1
This second edition of the Rutgers Gender-Transformative Approach Module 1 (2026) comes at a crucial moment of rapid changes in sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Over the past few decades, the world has witnessed historic progress in advancing gender equality. At the same time, many of these hardwon gains face increasing threats, including shrinking civic spaces, ongoing inequality and emerging global crises, such as pandemics, conflicts and climate change. Often, these shifts affect young people and marginalised groups more than they do other people.
This toolkit has been designed as a resource and a guide to support the integration of a gender-transformative approach into sexual and reproductive health and rights programmes and organisations. It consists of six modules and a guide to the theoretical background of the components covered. For each module there is an accompanying set of handouts.
