On International Youth Day, we’re launching a new videocast series featuring young people from Morocco, Lebanon, Indonesia and Uganda who are shaping a more just and equal society in their communities.
What does it take to bring different generations together on gender justice? How can young people have a real say in decisions that affect them? And what does it look like to make schools and communities safer and more equal?
These are some of the questions explored in the Next Gen Changemakers, a four-part videocast series bringing young people and allies in conversations about gender justice.
Rather than talking about young people as a generation of future leaders, the series focuses on what they are doing right now.
Three young activists discuss what it takes for different generations to work together. They explore how intergenerational collaboration can strengthen efforts for gender equality and social justice.
What does meaningful youth participation actually look like? Three experts discuss the how young people can have a genuine role in shaping decisions and social change , and why participation means more than simply having a seat at the table.

Young people are often described as the leaders of tomorrow. But across the world they are already challenging harmful gender norms, advocating for equal rights and creating new possibilities for their peers.
At the same time, young people’s voices are still too often left out of the discussions that affect their lives.
Meaningful participation means more than inviting them into a conversation. It means recognising that their experience and knowledge, giving them space to share the agenda and taking their ideas seriously.
